Johann Sebastian Bach on his way from Weimar to Köthen

In 1717 Bach left Weimar to take up a new position in Köthen. The change was very turbulent and Bach was accused of stubbornness and even arrested. When he was released from prison in Weimar, he was evidently in a hurry to get to Köthen. The sculpture shows a genius in trouble of everyday life.

Cool

Penguins are the coolest birds on earth. This specimen is intended to show an emperor penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri).

Shark on wooden block

A shark's body is perfectly formed by nature. It's nice when you can get close to the shape.

Two spirit

Head of a sphinx

The archer

The archer has drawn his bow fully and is about to shoot the arrow. However, the arrowhead is curved and can backfire. Maybe the archer realizes this at the last moment and doesn't shoot.

What men say when they are among themselves. The topics are of course sex, but also cars and tools. I chose two pipe wrenches for this.

Osumosan

Sumo is a great sport with a long history. There are many ceremonies and rituals, many of which have remained unchanged for centuries. This includes the ring-entering ceremonies. This sculpture depicts a moment of a sumotori performing one of these ceremonies.

I wanted to make a head that is very thin and long. That's what he's become.

How does it feel to be an only child?

The experience of being an only child varies widely among individuals and their family circumstances. I'm not an only child. The sculptures show my idea of being one.

Mother and daughter

It's complicated. The complicated relationship is represented by the different sizes and colors of the heads. The iron cage symbolizes the lifelong close relationship. Who is mother and who is daughter is left to the viewer.

The curator

The curator is full of art, colors and shapes. He looks critical, some would say arrogant. His mouth is twisted. His hairstyle is typical of the art scene. One eye says "stop", the other one says "go". The look on his face actually shows pity for the poor artist who dares to present him with such crap.

Dressage horse

This dressage horse not only moves elegantly, but is also colorful.

Hannibal after the Battle of Zama

H.: 28cm W.: 20 cm, D.: 10cm, Year: 2024 Material: wood, metal.
Hannibal suffered his first and decisive defeat in the Battle of Zama (202 BC).
The hanging head shows the disappointment of the defeat. There is not much left of the previous fame. Three elephant legs are reminiscent of his dreaded and previously victorious army. The sculpture shows how quickly military fame goes away.

What will become of the boy?

The parents look with some skepticism at their son, who is nothing like them. The “father” grimaces, the “mother” seems shocked and anxious. The "boy" shows no facial expression at all, but he has lots of colorful thoughts in his head.
